PAINTED WITH INVISIBLE INFRARED LIGHT AND PLAYED WITH BY ANIMALS DURING THEIR NOCTURNAL ACTIVITIES. A WOLF LOOKING FOR PREY. A MARTEN RUBS ITSELF AGAINST THE TREE. A MUSKRAT CLEANS ITS FUR. A HERON CATCHING FROGS. A WILD BOAR IS FRIGHTENED. A DEER STANDS THERE AND STARES INTO THE WILDLIFE CAMERA. A RACCOON REALIGNS PERSPECTIVE. TRANSPARENT SPIDER LEGS ABOVE THE LENS.

IN THE URBAN PERIPHERIES, IN WASTELANDS AND FORESTS AND SOMETIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY, THAT'S WHERE WILD ANIMALS APPEAR. MANY ARE NOCTURNAL. SOME HAVE BEEN EQUIPPED TO LIVE AT NIGHT FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS. OTHERS HAVE BEEN PUSHED INTO DARKNESS BY HUMAN ENCROACHMENT ON THEIR HABITATS. THE OTHER DAY MAKES THEM VISIBLE AND AUDIBLE.

THE FILM MOVES INTO ZONES IN WHICH THE INHABITANTS OF THE FOREST, INCLUDING OCCASIONALLY FERAL PETS, ORGANIZE THEIR SURVIVAL. HE TRACES CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE FAMILIAR AND THE STRANGE, THE FAMILIAR AND THE UNTAMED, THE SECRET AND THE UNCANNY. NEAR AND FAR SPACES EMERGE ON THE SOUNDTRACK, EVEN THOSE WE DON'T SEE. AND THE CAMERA PEERS INTO A PARALLEL WORLD THAT IS ACTUALLY OPAQUE TO THE HUMAN EYE. PROXIMITY, COINCIDENCE AND MOVEMENT TRIGGER THE INVISIBLE INFRARED LIGHT. THE HUMAN TECHNOLOGY LOOK INTO THE DARKNESS, THE ROMANTIC LONGING FOR CONNECTION WITH MILITARY AMPLIFICATION OPTICS. THE ANIMAL LOOK BACK THAT IS NOT AIMED AT ANYONE. ABOVE IS THE NIGHT-BLACK SKY AND THE WHITE HOLE OF THE MOON. – A HYBRID OF TECHNIQUES, CREATURES AND THE MYSTICISM OF NIGHT AND FOREST.
